A national survey conducted in fall 2005 showed that children of baby boomers are the next generation of buyers. Baby boomers continue to buy pre-existing homes as well but this new generation of buyers have different needs than the older generation of baby boomers today. Older buyers are always looking for quality at a good price and opt for a bed and breakfast rather than the big house with four bedrooms where they raised their children. Downsizing but do not want costly repairs or remodeling. The new generation is looking for more modern touches in a home and want as much square images as possible with the budget they have and will take their time to make their decision on a particular purchase. These buyers want separate bedrooms for their children, a nice yard for them to play and be safe. They seek to update kitchens and bathrooms. They should note any “extras” you put in your house, such as, molding, luxurious flooring, lighting and windows. This new generation will spend more time at home with their families and want a beautiful garden or yard to entertain family and friends. Of course, location is everything, however, if a house is ideally situated in business district, for example, you will need to offset that by making your home a place customers that this type of buyer want to live regardless of travel time in the office.
